Ireland: Industrial production rebounds in December
February 8, 2013
In December, industrial production rose a seasonally and working-day adjusted 1.6% over the same month the year before. The figure contrasted the 5.0% decrease observed in November (previously reported: -6.2% year-on-year). According to the Central Statistics Office Ireland (CSO), the reading mainly reflected an expansion in the so-called "modern" sector, which comprises a number of high technology and chemical industries.
On a monthly basis, industrial production rose 8.5% over the previous month in seasonally adjusted terms, which was well above the 0.2% increase tallied in November. In the full year 2012, industrial production declined 1.5%, below the flat growth rate registered in 2011.
