Indonesia: Trade surplus narrows in February

In February, exports grew 8.5% over the same month last year, which was above the 6.6% expansion observed in January (previously reported: +6.1% year-on-year). Non-oil and gas exports, which account for the majority of Indonesian exports, rose 4.6% in February (January: +3.6% yoy). Meanwhile, oil and gas exports also accelerated from a 20.2% expansion in January to a 26.5% rise in February. Imports increased 27.3% in February, which was above the 15.9% rise in January. As a result, the trade surplus narrowed from USD 1.0 billion in January to USD 693 million in February.
