Indonesia: Retail sales slow in August

In August, retail sales expanded 11.4% over the same month last year, according to Bank Indonesia's Retail Sales Survey (RSS). The reading, nevertheless, was below the 20.0% increase observed in July (previously reported: +19.8% year-on-year). As a result of the slower monthly expansion, annual average growth fell to 10.5% in August from 11.1% in July. Moreover, according to the survey, retailers expect growth in short-term sales (three to six months ahead) to continue to increase.
