Indonesia: Retail sales moderate slightly in November
January 2, 2013
In November, retail sales expanded 17.1% over the same month the year before, according to Bank Indonesia's Retail Sales Survey (RSS). The reading was slightly below the 19.3% increase observed in October (previously reported: +19.0% year-on-year). Sales of other household equipment as well as of information and communication equipment led the expansion in November.
As a result of the strong monthly increase, annual average growth picked up from 13.6% in October to 14.1% in November. Moreover, according to the survey, retailers expect growth in short-term sales (three to six months ahead) to continue to rise.
