Hungary: Industrial production slows in December

According to preliminary data released by the statistical institute (KSH) on 6 February, industrial output in December rose a working-day adjusted 4.6% over the same month of the previous year, marking a deceleration compared to the 5.6% increase observed in November. The print fell short of market expectations of a 6.0% increase but marked the 19th consecutive expansion.

On a monthly basis, industrial production contracted a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 1.7% in December, contrasting November’s 3.2% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production inched up from 7.1% in November to 7.2% in December.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 5.1% in 2015, which is down 0.5 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel expects industrial output to expand 5.4%.
