Hungary: Industrial production rebounds in April

June 14, 2016

According to data released by the statistical institute (KSH), industrial output in April increased a working-day adjusted 5.3% over the same month last year. The result marked a rebound over the 2.4% decrease observed in March and the highest reading in four months. The turnaround reflected improvements across all sub-sectors, particularly manufacturing.

On a monthly basis, industrial production expanded a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 5.4% in April, contrasting March’s 1.1% drop and marking the largest expansion since January 2011. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production inched down from 5.4% in March to 5.3% in April.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 4.1% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel expects industrial output to expand 5.3%.
