Hungary: Industrial production picks up again in September

According to preliminary data released by the statistical institute (KSH) on 6 November, industrial output in September rose a working-day adjusted 5.2% over the same month last year, which marked an acceleration compared to the 2.8% increase observed in August. The reading met market expectations and marked the 16th consecutive expansion.

On a monthly basis, industrial production rose a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 2.7% in September, recording an eight-month-high and contrasting August’s 5.7% contraction. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production inched up from 7.2% in August to 7.5% in September, reaching the best result in 37 months.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 8.4% in 2014, which is up 0.6 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2015, the panel expects industrial output to expand 5.4%, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
