Hungary: Industrial production growth speeds up to eight-month high in March

According to preliminary data released by the statistical institute (KSH) on 7 May, industrial output in March rose a working-day adjusted 9.0% over the same month last year, marking an acceleration compared to the 6.0% increase observed in February and the largest gain in eight months.

On a monthly basis, industrial production rose a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 2.6% in March, contrasting February’s 0.7% contraction. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production inched up from 7.2% in February to 7.3% in March.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 5.2% in 2015, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel expects industrial output also to expand 5.2%.
