Hungary: Industrial production falls into contraction in June

According to preliminary data released by the statistical institute (KSH) on 5 August, industrial output in June shrank a working-day adjusted 0.3% over the same month last year. The result contrasted the 4.4% increase observed in May.

On a monthly basis, industrial production fell a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 2.4% in June, which followed May’s softer 0.6% decrease. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production edged down from 5.0% in May to 4.5% in June, marking the lowest reading in over two years.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 4.1% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel expects industrial output to expand 5.3%.
