Hungary: Industrial production deteriorates in March

According to preliminary data released by the statistical institute (KSH), industrial output in March fell a working-day adjusted 2.4% over the same month last year. The result contrasted the 1.6% increase observed in February and marked the lowest reading since May 2013.

On a monthly basis, industrial production fell a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 1.1% in March, matching February’s result. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production deteriorated from 6.3% in February to 5.4% in March.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 4.7% in 2016, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2017, the panel expects industrial output to expand 5.2%.
