Hungary: Industrial production decelerates slightly in May

Industrial output rose a working-day adjusted 9.6%% over the same month last year in May according to preliminary data released by the statistical institute (KSH) on 4 July. The reading marked a slight deceleration over the strong 10.1% increase observed in April.

On a monthly basis, industrial production dropped a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 1.0% in May, which was well below the 2.4% expansion observed in April. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production rose from 4.7% in April to 5.6% in May, which represented the highest reading since December 2011.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 5.4% in 2014, which is up 1.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2015, the panel expects industrial output to expand a stronger 4.9%.
