Hungary: Industrial production accelerates to over-three-year high in April

Industrial output rose a working-day adjusted 8.9% over the same month last year in April, reaching the highest pace of expansion since April 2011 according to preliminary data released by the statistical institute (KSH) on 6 June. The reading marked an acceleration over the 8.4% increase observed in April.

On a monthly basis, industrial production rose a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 2.4% in April, which was well above the 0.5% expansion observed in March. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production rose from 1.6% in March to 2.4% in April, which marked the highest print in over two years.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 4.3% in 2014, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2015, the panel expects industrial output to expand a stronger 4.2%.
