Hungary: Growth in industrial production slows in April

According to preliminary data released by the statistical institute (KSH) on 5 June, industrial output in April rose a working-day adjusted 6.3% over the same month last year, marking a deceleration compared to the 9.0% increase observed in March. March’s print had represented the largest gain in eight months.

On a monthly basis, industrial production fell a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 0.1% in April, contrasting March’s 2.6% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production eased from 7.3% in March to 7.0% in April.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 5.2% in 2015, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel expects industrial output also to expand 5.2%.
