Hungary: Growth in industrial production picks up in September

November 13, 2015

According to preliminary data released by the statistical institute (KSH), industrial output in September rose a working-day adjusted 7.8% over the same month last year, marking an acceleration compared to the 6.2% increase observed in August. September’s increase, the highest growth in six months, was driven by an acceleration in the manufacturing sector.

On a monthly basis, industrial production rose a seasonally- and working-day adjusted 2.9% in September, which contrasted August’s 1.8% decline. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production sped up from 5.8% in August to 6.0% in September.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 6.3% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel expects industrial output to expand 4.8%, also unchanged from last month’s forecast.
