Hungary: Growth in industrial production accelerates notably in February

Hungaryia industrial output in February rose a working-day adjusted 7.0%, which followed the 1.6% expansion observed in January. The rise was underpinned by stronger expansions in manufacturing and mining and quarrying, while the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning component swung from expansion to contraction.

On a monthly basis, industrial production accelerated from the flat reading recorded in January to a 3.4% expansion in February. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production increased in February to 1.2% from the previous month’s 0.7%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to grow 3.5% in 2017, which is down 0.3 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2018, the panel expects industrial output to expand 4.7%.
