Guatemala: Growth in economic activity remains unchanged in January

In January, economic activity increased 4.7% over the same month of last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The result matched the expansion tallied in the previous month and marked the highest reading since August 2011.

Annual average growth inched up from December’s 4.3% to 4.4% in January, which marked the fastest pace of growth in more than six years.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see GDP growing 3.5% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists also expect the economy to expand 3.5%.
