September 7, 2015

In July, economic activity increased 3.9% over the same month of last year according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The result was a slight improvement from the revised 3.8% expansion tallied in June (previously reported: +3.5% year-over year). July’s result was the first acceleration in monthly economic activity since January.

Annual average growth fell from June’s 4.5% to 4.4% in July, resulting in the lowest reading in seven months.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see GDP growing 3.9% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect the economy to expand 3.6%.
