Guatemala: Growth in economic activity is unchanged in April

In April, economic activity increased 2.7% over the same month last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The result was in line with March’s expansion, which was the smallest gain since September 2012.

Annual average growth inched down from 3.8% in March to 3.7% in April, which represented the lowest reading since June 2014.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see GDP growing 3.4% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, panelists expect the economy to expand 3.6%.
