Guatemala: Growth in economic activity drops to nine-month low in December
February 5, 2015
In December, economic activity increased 4.0% over the same month of the previous year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The expansion marked a slight deceleration from November’s 4.2% rise and was the mildest expansion in nine months. Nevertheless, the indicator still points to robust growth in the Guatemalan economy.
Despite the slight deceleration, annual average growth in economic activity inched up from November’s 4.1% to 4.2% in December, which marked the fastest pace of growth in three years.
