Guatemala: Growth in economic activity drops in April

In April, economic activity increased 3.9% over the same month of last year according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The result was a deterioration from the 4.2% expansion tallied in March and marked the lowest reading since March 2014.

Annual average growth fell from March’s 4.8% to 4.5% in April, resulting in the lowest reading in four months.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see GDP growing 3.9% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect the economy to expand 3.6%.
