Guatemala: Growth in economic activity decreases slightly in February

In February, economic activity increased 4.6% over the same month of last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The result was slightly lower than the expansion of 4.8% tallied in January and marked an eight-month low.

Annual average growth inched up from January’s 4.4% to 4.5% in February, which marked the fastest pace of growth in more than six years.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see GDP growing 3.6% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect the economy to expand 3.4%.
