Guatemala: Economic activity ticks up in May
July 5, 2013
In May, economic activity rose 3.8% over the same month last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The reading was up from the 3.7% rise seen in April (previously reported: +3.2% year-on-year) and marks the fastest increase observed since October 2011.
As a result of the stronger annual print, the trend continues to point upwards, with annual average growth in economic activity inching up from 3.1% in April to 3.2% in May.
