Guatemala: Economic activity speeds up slightly in October

In October, economic activity increased 4.2% over the same month of last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The result marked a slight pickup over the 4.1% expansions recorded in the previous four months.

Annual average growth in October came in at 4.5%, matching September’s result. Annual average growth has been relatively steady so far this year, remaining within plus or minus 0.1 percentage points of 4.6% for since January.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see GDP growing 3.9% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect the economy to expand 3.6%, which is also unchanged from last month’s Consensus.
