Guatemala: Economic activity slows mildly in July

In July, economic activity rose 3.2% over the same month last year according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The reading was slightly below the 3.3% increase recorded in June.
Despite the deceleration in July, the trend stabilized and annual average growth in economic activity remained at June's 3.3%.
The Central Bank expects the economy to grow between 3.2% and 3.6% in 2013. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see GDP growing 3.3% this year, which is unchanged from last month's forecast. For next year, panelists expect the economy to expand 3.5%.
