Guatemala: Economic activity grows at steady pace in September

In September, economic activity increased 4.1% over the same month of last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The result matched the previous month’s revised reading (previously reported: +4.3% year-on-year).

Annual average growth in September came in at 4.5%, which was slightly down from August’s 4.6% expansion. Annual average growth has been relatively steady so far this year, remaining within plus or minus 0.1 percentage points of 4.6% for since January.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants see GDP growing 3.9% in 2015, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2016, panelists expect the economy to expand 3.6%, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s Consensus.
