Guatemala: Economic activity continues to gain momentum
September 12, 2012
In July, economic activity rose 3.9% over the same month last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The reading was a notch above the 3.8% rise observed in June (previously reported: +3.7% year-on-year) and marked, in fact, the highest reading seen since March 2011. Owing to the strong July print, the trend is pointing upwards, with annual average growth in economic activity rising from 3.4% in June to 3.5%.
