Greece: Unemployment rate stable in January

The number of unemployed decreased by 2,100 in January, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT.). The result followed the 1,000 increase in unemployed seen in December.

The unemployment rate was stable at December’s revised 23.5% in January (previously reported: 23.1%). The unemployment rate is below that seen in the same month last year, however, it is still well above the Eurozone average.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect unemployment to average 22.5% in 2017. For 2018, the panel expects the unemployment rate to average 21.4%.
