Greece: Unemployment rate keeps inching down in November

The number of unemployed fell by 3,718 in November, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT.). The fall was broadly unchanged from October’s 3,785 decrease.

The unemployment rate fell in November, inching down from October’s 24.7% to 24.6%. In addition, November’s figure was below that of the same month of the previous year (November 2014: 25.9%) and marked the lowest unemployment rate since May 2012. Despite the improvements registered over the past year, Greece’s unemployment rate is still well above the Eurozone average.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect unemployment to average 25.1% in 2016. For 2017, the panel expects the unemployment rate to average 24.5%.
