Greece: Unemployment rate inches down in February

The number of unemployed in Greece decreased by 6,900 in February, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT.). The result followed the 2,100 fall in people unemployed seen in January.

The unemployment rate inched down from January’s 23.3% to 23.2%, a five-month low. While the unemployment rate has fallen notably in past years, it is still well above the Eurozone average.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect unemployment to average 22.4% in 2017. For 2018, the panel expects the unemployment rate to average 21.0%.
