Greece: Unemployment rate falls in March

The number of unemployed fell by 19,400 in March, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT.). The result followed the 28,900 fall in people unemployed seen in February.

The unemployment rate fell from February’s revised 22.9% (previously reported: 23.25) to 22.5%, a multi-year low. While the unemployment rate has fallen notably in past years, it is still well above the Eurozone average.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect unemployment to average 22.4% in 2017. For 2018, the panel expects the unemployment rate to average 21.0%.
