Greece: Unemployment rate falls in April

The number of unemployed fell by 12,900 in April, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT.). The result followed the 24,500 fall in people unemployed seen in March.

The unemployment rate fell from March’s revised 22.0% (previously reported: 22.5) to 21.7%, a multi-year low. While the unemployment rate has fallen notably in past years, it is still well above the Eurozone average.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect unemployment to average 22.4% in 2017. For 2018, the panel expects the unemployment rate to average 21.1%.
