Greece: Unemployment rate edges up in January
April 7, 2016
The number of unemployed rose by 3,570 in January, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT.). The increase contrasted the 12,088 decrease tallied in December.
The unemployment rate rose in January, edging up from December’s 24.3% to 24.5%. However, January’s figure was below that of the same month last year (January 2015: 25.8%). Despite the improvements registered over the past year, Greece’s unemployment rate is still well above the Eurozone average.
