Greece: Unemployment rate drops further in November

The number of unemployed fell by 13,600 in November, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT.). November’s fall marked a greater drop over October’s 12,600 decrease.

The unemployment rate inched down from 25.9% in October to 25.8% in November. The reading, which marked the lowest rate in over two years, was below that of the same month of the previous year (November 2013: 27.7%). Despite the improvements registered in recent months, Greece’s unemployment rate is still well above the Eurozone average.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect unemployment to average 26.7% in 2015. For 2016, the panel expects the unemployment rate to average 25.3%.
