Greece: Unemployment rate decreases in September

September’s data pointed to an improvement in the labor market. The number of employed people increased by 43,487 compared with August, while the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate decreased from August’s 12.1% to 11.8% in September.

Moreover, the number of unemployed people decreased by 8,449 compared to August. Meanwhile, the number of individuals outside the labor force decreased by 37,647 compared with August, representing a 1.2% drop.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect the unemployment rate to average 12.4% in 2023, which is up 0.1 percentage points from the previous month’s projection. For 2024, the panel sees the unemployment rate averaging 11.9%.
