Greece: Industrial production stable in September

In September, industrial production in Greece expanded a working-day adjusted 0.1% compared to the same month last year, which matched August’s revised result (previously reported: -0.3% year-on-year). Manufacturing was the only component of the index to record growth, while declines were seen in all other categories.

Meanwhile, industrial output rose 5.8% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, which notably contrasted August’s revised 12.2% decrease (previously reported: -12.6% month-on-month). The trend moderated in September as annual average growth in industrial production fell from 2.3% to 2.0%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see industrial production expanding 0.9% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. In 2017, the panel sees industrial production growing 1.6%, which is down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month’s projection.
