Greece: Industrial production expands in April

In April, industrial production rose a working-day adjusted 2.8% compared to the same month last year, which notably contrasted the revised 3.6% contraction tallied in March (previously reported: -4.0% year-on-year) and marked a three-month high. April’s turnaround reflected improvements in manufacturing and electricity as well as in water supply. .

Meanwhile, industrial output rose 3.2% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, which followed March’s revised 2.3% increase (previously reported: +1.9% month-on-month). The trend pointed upward in April as annual average growth in industrial production rose from zero to 0.2%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see industrial production contracting 0.9% in 2016, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. In 2017, the panel sees industrial production growing 2.0%.
