Greece: Industrial production ends 2015 on high note

February 9, 2016

In December, industrial production rose a working-day adjusted 5.2% compared to the same month of the previous year, which was a significant acceleration from the revised 2.0% expansion tallied in November (previously reported: +1.8% year-on-year) and marked the fastest pace of growth since July 2007. The expansion reflected an almost across-the-board improvement in the index.

Industrial output in December increased 0.8% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, which followed November’s revised 2.5% increase (previously reported: +2.3% month-on-month). After seven years of shrinking industrial output, industrial production expanded 0.7% for the whole year 2015 (2014: -1.9%).

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see industrial production contracting 0.2% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. In 2017, the panel sees industrial production growing 1.1%.
