Ghana: Inflation virtually unchanged in February

Consumer prices increased 0.6% in February compared to the previous month, down significantly from January’s 2.8%. The slowdown was driven by smaller price increases across the board, with price rises in the food and non-alcoholic beverages and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels sectors slowing notably.

Inflation remained virtually unchanged at 13.2% in February compared to 13.3% in January, marking the lowest rate since December 2013. Annual average inflation dipped from 17.0% (previously reported: +18.6%) in January to 16.5% in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 12.0% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. The panel sees inflation at 9.8% in 2018.
