Ghana: Inflation virtually flat in December
January 11, 2017
Consumer prices increased 0.98% in December compared to the previous month, up slightly from November’s 0.82% rise. This month’s uptick was driven by price increases across the board, with the food and non-alcoholic beverages, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics, and hotels, cafes and restaurants sub-categories registering particularly strong increases.
Inflation dipped from 15.5% in November to 15.4% in December, the lowest rate since July 2014. Annual average inflation inched down to 17.5% in December from 17.7% in November.
