Ghana: Inflation picks up in June

In June, consumer prices increased 1.36% over the previous month, which was up from the 1.15% increase tallied in May. June’s print was mainly a strong increase in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Inflation fell from 18.9% in May to 18.4% in June. As a result, inflation moved closer to the Central Bank’s target of 8.0%. Moreover, annual average inflation in June rose from 18.1% in May to 18.2%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2016 at 16.9%, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. The panel sees inflation ending 2017 at 12.6%.
