Ghana: Inflation dips in July

Consumer prices increased 0.7% in July compared to the prior month, down from June’s 0.9%. The clothing and footwear, hotels, cafes and restaurants, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco sub-sectors recorded the largest month-on-month rises.

Inflation inched down from 12.1% in June to 11.9% in July, marking a multi-year low and moving closer to the Central Bank’s 6.0%-10.0% target band, while annual average inflation dipped from 14.5% in June to 14.0% in July.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 12.5% in 2017 and 10.3% in 2018.
