Germany: Industrial production rebounds in October
December 7, 2015
In October, industrial production rose 0.2% over the previous month in seasonally-adjusted terms, marking an increase after two months of falling output. The reading came in below market expectations of a 0.8% rise, but contrasted September’s steep 1.1% drop. October’s result mainly reflected that manufacturing, construction as well as mining and quarrying rebounded. Conversely, electricity and energy supply tallied the largest contraction since June 2010.
Compared to the same month last year, industrial production was unchanged in October, which came in below September’s mild 0.4% increase. The overall trend moderated as annual average growth in industrial production decreased from 0.9% in September to 0.8% in October.
