Austria Consumer Confidence October 2018

Austria: Consumer confidence inches down in October

Sentiment among consumers eased slightly in October, with the index dipping to 9 from 10 in September. Nonetheless, confidence remained easily above the crucial zero-point mark that separates optimism from pessimism.

The headline figure reflected significantly less optimism regarding the country’s economic situation in the year ahead and slightly more pessimism regarding households’ financial situation over the past 12 months. In addition, households’ willingness to make major purchases in the year ahead decreased, likely linked to consumers’ worse expectations concerning unemployment over the next twelve months.
