France: Harmonized inflation comes in at highest level since our records began

Consumer prices increased 0.64% in May over the previous month, picking up from the 0.43% rise logged in April. Looking at the details of the release, the change in the prices for services grew at a softer raterebounded in May while prices for manufactured products were broadly stable from the previous month’s reading.

Harmonized inflation came in at 5.8% in May, up from April’s 5.4%. May’s reading represented the highest inflation rate since our current records began. Annual average harmonized inflation rose to 3.5% in May (April: 3.2%). Finally, consumer price inflation rose to 5.2% in May, from April’s 4.8%.
