France: Industrial production increases in July
September 9, 2011
In July, industrial output rose 1.5% in seasonally adjusted terms over the previous month, contrasting the revised 1.5% contraction tallied in June (previously reported: -1.6% month-on-month). The reading overshot market analysts' expectations, which had industrial output expanding a more subdued 0.4%. Moreover, on an annual basis, industrial activity rose 3.7%. The monthly increase was broad-based across all components, most notably a rebound in manufacturing. However, the trend continues to point downwards, with annual average industrial output growth inching lower from 3.9% in June to 3.8% in July.
