France: Business confidence remains pessimistic
November 23, 2012
The November business sentiment index published by the National Statistical Institute (INSEE) rose to 88 points from 85 points in October. The reading exceeded market analysts' expectations, which had seen confidence improving to 87 points. Despite the improvement, business sentiment remains well below its long-term average of 100 points. The monthly result reflected improvements in most categories. General production expectations, which represent opinions on French industry as a whole, turned considerably less pessimistic but remain mired in negative territory.
