Inflation unchanged in June
According to a preliminary estimate released by Eurostat on 28 June, harmonized inflation was stable at May’s 1.2% in June. The result is below the European Central Bank’s target rate of near, but under, 2.0%. Lower price pressures for energy were balanced out by upticks in price growth for services and food, alcohol and tobacco.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile energy and unprocessed foods prices, edged up from 1.0% in May to 1.2% in June.
A complete set of data for harmonized inflation will be released 17 July.
