Inflation inches down in July
According to a preliminary estimate released by Eurostat on 31 July, harmonized inflation fell to 1.1% in July, from June’s 1.3%. The result is further below the European Central Bank’s target rate of near, but under, 2.0%. Lower price pressures for energy and services drove the downtick.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile energy and unprocessed foods prices, fell to 1.1% in July from 1.3% in June.
A complete set of data for harmonized inflation will be released 19 August.
