Estonia: Inflation slows in March
April 9, 2012
In March, consumer prices rose 1.0% over the previous month, which was above the 0.4% increase observed in February. According to Statistics Estonia, the rise was mainly influenced by housing expenditures and transport prices. As a result, annual headline inflation increased from 4.2% in February to 4.4% in March. Annual HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) edged down from 4.7% in January to 4.4% in February, the latest month for which data are available. Annual average HICP inflation, however, remained unchanged at January's 5.0%. The Central Bank expects HICP inflation to average 2.8% this year and 2.9% in 2013.
