Ecuador: Inflation edges up in December
Consumer prices rose 0.07% over the prior month in December, following December’s 0.36% increase. Looking at the details of the press release, prices for transportation rose at a softer rate, while prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages cooled over the prior month.
Inflation accelerated to 1.9% in December from 1.8% in October, the joint-highest inflation rate since April 2016. Accordingly, the annual variation in consumer prices increased, coming in at 0.1%, following November’s minus 0.1%.
